Ferrari is yet again showing that it is in a league of its own after the inauguration of its highly anticipated factory in Maranello. The opening of the new production facility is tailored specifically for Ferrari’s electrified future. By making this move towards exclusively producing electric vehicles in this facility, Ferrari isn’t just catching up to the electric vehicle (EV) trend, it’s raising the bar.

At this point, the world will have to wait until 2026 before Ferrari’s first electric supercar hit the streets, however, the pieces are already in place for what could be deemed the most exclusive and technically sophisticated EVs in the world.

The beginning of an electrifying future for Ferrari

At the core of Ferrari’s evolution is the new 42,500-square-meter e-building, a towering 25-meter facility that showcases Ferrari’s most significant investment in electrification to date. Currently situated in the Italian car manufacturer’s home of Maranello, this factory cannot be called an “ordinary car plant”. Ferrari’s e-building is a multi-level, high-tech center where internal combustion engines, hybrids, and fully electric vehicles are all meticulously crafted side by side.

Although this new plant is labelled an “e-building”, it is not exclusively electric. Ferrari is holding on to its multi-powertrain philosophy, using the facility to not only produce EVs but also next-generation hybrid and ICE models. Ferrari already has the spanner in the works with the trial production for the Purosangue SUV and SF90 hybrid with full-scale series production having started this year. By next year, Ferrari’s first all-electric supercar will make a public appearance.

The “e-building” in Maranello is no ordinary car factory, it is soon to be the home of electric motors, high-voltage batteries, axles, and traditional engines and as such is the core hub for everything futuristic that Ferrari will offer in the coming years. Currently, 300 employees already working inside in the e-building signaling a shift towards enhanced performance and exclusivity.

Ferrari’s revelation of the first electric supercar

Although Ferrari is still keeping most of the details under wraps, certain interesting facts about the brand’s first electric supercar has been revealed. The unveiling of Ferrari first electric car will occur towards the end of 2025, and customer deliveries will begin first thing at the beginning of 2026. With so much hype about this electric supercar, the starting price will be at least €500,000, placing it considerably higher than the already hefty price tag of current Ferrari models which retails for approximately €350,000.

The price tag of Ferrari’s EV is what sets Ferrari apart from other luxury EV competitors and ties in with the brand’s purpose of being a prestigious and exclusive electric vehicle brand. Enthusiastic customers can expect low production volumes, longer waiting lists, and a tightly controlled output. Paying for luxury is never questionable with Ferrari as the brand is always making waves and has recently destroyed hydrogen with its powerful engine.

More about the Ferrari style electric expansion

Although Ferrari’s factory could allow Ferrari to expand its output to 20,000 vehicles annually, the company may deliberately decide not to max out its potential. Several media sources suggest that Ferrari is planning a measured expansion of its product line, rather than simply ramping up production. Already on the cards and in the early stages of development is a second electric vehicle which will be revealed shortly after the launch of the first EV model.

Staying true to its boutique-style roots, Ferraris goal is not the manufacture more cars, but to show innovation with stricter limits in the electric vehicle sector. This approach enables Ferrari to stay ahead of the curve while holding on to the mystique that is the core focus of the brand for decades. Ferrari has yet again show that above being a car company, it’s a global symbol of luxury, engineering excellence and penultimate performance. Set to electrify its legacy, Ferrari still remains the talk of the town. The question remains; can Ferrari break the laws of physics with its impeccable details yet again?

When it comes to Ferrari, the legendary Italian marque, it has always been in a league of its own.
