Is Brean Theme Park really gone for good? Not exactly. The Somerset attraction entered liquidation in late January, but as of March 6, its official website says the park will reopen on March 21, 2026<\/a>, and is already selling wristbands for the new season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is what makes this story more complicated than a standard closure notice. Liquidation is the legal process of winding up a company that can no longer keep trading in the usual way, and The Gazette says Brean Theme Park Limited entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation<\/a> on January 28 with Nicholas Stafford of Hazlewoods LLP appointed as liquidator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Brean Theme Park entered liquidation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The park\u2019s liquidator says the business had been facing “significant financial challenges” since the COVID-19 pandemic. ITV News<\/a> reported that money made during the 2025 summer season was not enough to carry the attraction through its normal winter shutdown. For a seasonal park, that can become a serious problem fast because the gates may be shut while the bills keep showing up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was also a local tourism problem<\/a>. ITV reported that trading conditions were hurt by the ongoing Hinkley Point C development, including nearby holiday accommodation being used for contractors rather than visitors. That may sound like a small shift, but in a seaside resort it can mean fewer people walking in for rides, snacks, and a last-minute family day out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Brean Theme Park says about reopening<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The message on the park\u2019s own website sounds very different from the liquidation filing. It says “We reopen on March 21, 2026”, continues to promote more than 40 rides and attractions<\/a>, and still uses the same free-entry setup where guests either buy wristbands for unlimited rides or load credits onto a fun card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter Mainwaring, the park\u2019s general manager, said the group structure has changed but visitors<\/a> should still find the same park and the same team when the 2026 season begins. He also said Brean Theme Park operates independently and leases land from Unity Holidays. Unity has separately said Brean Play, Brean Splash, and Brean Gym will reopen as planned for 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What the liquidation means now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In practical terms, liquidation does not automatically mean every ride disappears overnight. It means the old company is in a formal insolvency process and cannot operate in the normal way, with Companies House<\/a> listing one insolvency case for Brean Theme Park Limited that began on January 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taken together, those records suggest the Somerset attraction is trying to reset under a new business structure rather than vanish for good. Whether that works will depend, for the most part, on whether families return when the gates reopen later this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
