They have presented a new technology that we do not know in <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">America,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> and have begun the launch of their first engines to revolutionize the roads. Do you know which one we are talking about? <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You&#8217;ve<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> never heard of it, but <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">we&#8217;ll<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> tell you <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that it<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> goes far beyond the FCEVs you know.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Toyota led the way in hydrogen <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">engines:<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">now<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> they are going for something even more <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">innovative<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A recent example of a <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">major<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> automaker engaging in hydrogen technology is Toyota, which claims to be on its way to bringing hydrogen technology to scale and has invested significantly to <strong>make the business carbon-neutral in Europe by 2040<\/strong>. The company has been working on the further improvement of the future models of hydrogen-fueled cell systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Toyota has been trying out liquid hydrocarbon combustion engines <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">which<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> have<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> several advantages over compressed gaseous hydrogen used in FCEVS. Hydrogen in a <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">liquid<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> state is denser in energy, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">which means that <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">very<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> nearly 50% more of the energy resource can be amassed<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in a given volume.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It also can be dear under regular <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">pressure,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> thus <\/span><strong>it will not require<\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong> high-pressure tanks for storage<\/strong>. As much as these engines present exciting opportunities, they have several difficulties attached to them. For example, the fuel pump, which is a critical component of the internal combustion engine, has some problems that need to be solved:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It degrades quickly and operates <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ineffectively<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> because <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">it cannot be lubricated<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> with oil since this would hash the hydrogen fuel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Besides<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, when retaining <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">very cold<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> temperatures<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, it is hard to have the right fit between pump sections without leakage.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What is Toyota planning to do for the future? Goodbye to FCEVs as we know them<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Toyota has plans for future generations of hydrogen fuel cell technologies that will have a high level of performance as compared to the current levels in the industry. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The use of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> new technology will result in increased life cycles, energy storage number mileage, and reduced <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">costs of manufacturing<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company plans to <strong>bring this into the commercial market in 2026 <\/strong><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">generating<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> a higher power density and an increase in driving range of 20% <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">as<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> compared to the existing systems. The new fuel cell system <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is also planned<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to cut the costs by thirty-five plus percent caused by technical improvements and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">by raising<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the consequent output.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Toyota <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">currently has<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> plans to illustrate its commitment to hydrogen by investing in plants and partnering with other industries. Hydrogen Factory Europe has <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">been created<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to establish a better structure of hydrogen technology <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">as well as<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> facilitate its commercialization across facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is based<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> on the <strong>research and development of fuel cell systems<\/strong>, production <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">of the systems<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and support for commerce partners. Toyota is also focusing on developing the social system and consolidating cooperating partners to push forward the application of hydrogen and establish a<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> \u2018<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">hydrogen societ<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">y<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The next<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> generation of hydrogen engines could have been started<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: we know how it will be\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Therefore <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> next generation of FCEVs shall play a paramount role in the future transportation systems. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Toyota\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> new fuel cell technology will give an efficient output that <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">includes an enhancement of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> driving range and, consequently, <strong>the demand for FCEVs over BEVs<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Hydrogen <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is also seen<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in the transport section, especially for the production of heavy-duty transport like workshop trucks and buses <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">which<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will assist in <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the demystification of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> carbon in such sectors. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Further, Toyota is expanding Large-scale metal hydride tanks for liquid hydrogen systems in commercial vehicles, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">which will further enhance<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the hydrogen demand and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">reduce<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> manufacturing prices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Still, there are challenges that FCEV resources face when compared to BEVs, even though the latter is growing in popularity.
