Class action payouts can provide plaintiffs with large financial compensation over a shared injustice incurred by them from a defendant, sometimes reaching settlements amounting to millions. Generally, this kind of financial compensation is only made possible due to the collective power a group of plaintiffs holds against a defendant, usually a large corporation or entity. Check to see if you qualify for a $281 payment before the due date to submit your valid claim.

Why are class action lawsuits important?

A class action lawsuit occurs when a group of individuals has a shared injustice against a defendant and decides to seek legal justice together as a group instead of pursuing the defendant individually. While the rewards may be higher should you choose to take legal action individually, this collective group action often means that you stand a much higher chance of winning, particularly if the defendant has access to much more resources than you, such as a large company.

Class action lawsuits can often take years to complete, and defendants generally never admit to any wrongdoing. Instead, what often happens is that the defendant agrees to settle with the plaintiffs to compensate them for any damages that may have occurred. These payouts can amount to anywhere between a few hundred to thousands, depending on the number of plaintiffs and the extent of the damage.

Recently, the parent company of Coldwell Banker, Realogy Holdings Corp., has agreed to settle a $20 million class action lawsuit with plaintiffs over claims that the company violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) due to unsolicited phone calls to customers. The settlement if between plaintiffs who received two or more telemarketing calls from a Coldwell Banker-affiliated real estate agent from a Mojo, PhoneBurner and/or Storm dialer within a 12-month period on a phone number that appeared on the National Do Not Call Registry for at least 31 days between June 11, 2015, and December 3, 2020.

Under the TCPA, telemarketers are not allowed to call individuals whose numbers appear on the National Do Not Call Registry. The law also restricts the use of automated dialing systems and pre-recorded voice messages to cellphones. The class action lawsuit is also applicable to those who received a call from a Coldwell Banker-affiliated real estate agent with an artificial or prerecorded message between June 11, 2015, and Dec. 3, 2020.

Realogy Holdings Corp. has not admitted to any wrongdoing (as most companies decline to do) but will settle with plaintiffs to resolve the claims. If at least 15% of class members submit a valid claim, individuals can expect to receive approximately $281 in compensation. The compensation amount is subject to change depending on how many individuals submit a valid.

Deadline to submit your claim

Important dates for plaintiffs to take note of are as follows:

  • The deadline to apply for exclusion and objection for the case is July 3, 2025
  • The deadline to submit your claim to receive a settlement payout is July 3, 2025
  • The final approval hearing is scheduled for August 28, 2025

Other deadlines fast approaching to receive a payout from a class action lawsuit include the July 11, 2025 deadline to be included in the WellNow Urgent Care case, where valid claims can see plaintiffs receive as much as $7,500 in compensation for damages over the clinic failing to protect sensitive patient data is a cybersecurity breach. Some of these individuals had their Social Security numbers compromised, leading to the risk of identity theft. The final approval hearing for this case is set for August 15, just before the Realogy Holdings Corp final hearing.

Disclaimer: You should not submit false or inflated claims under penalty of perjury, as class‑action claim forms historically required declarations signed “under penalty of perjury” to ensure authenticity. Submitting a fraudulent claim not only carries legal exposure—including potential civil and criminal sanctions—but also harms other eligible class members by diluting the available settlement pool.
