Stellantis recalls over 24,000 of these Jeep vehicles; check to see if yours is included. Vehicle recalls are an essential safety intervention conducted jointly by vehicle manufacturers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). These recalls can range from minor software problems to much more serious engine manufacturing errors. If your vehicle is recalled, it is essential that you have to attended to as soon as possible in order to ensure that the roads remain safe.

Keeping lives safe on the road with vehicle recalls

Vehicle recalls are announced by the NHTSA when an investigation concludes that a number of vehicle models have the same manufacturing or other safety-related defects. The NHTSA recall process is broken down into the following three steps:

  1. Complaints pertaining to a vehicle are added to the NHTSA database. When a recurring complaint by vehicle owners with the same model is identified, the NHTSA will open an investigation.
  2. The investigation stage is broken down into four phases: Screening, Analysis, Investigation, and Recall Management.
  3. A recall is initiated by either the NHTSA or vehicle manufacturer if an investigation concludes that the vehicles of interest pose a significant safety hazard on the road.

Generally, vehicle manufacturers will identify and initiate a recall before the NHTSA needs to conduct an investigation. When your vehicle is recalled, it is up to the vehicle manufacturer to cover all necessary costs needed to correct the problem. Drivers can make use of the NHTSA VIN tool on their website to search whether their vehicle is part of a recall or not.

Stellantis recalls over 24,000 Jeep vehicles

Recently, developer Stellantis has recalled over 24,000 Jeep vehicles on account of a software error. Affected models include Wrangler 4x plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicles assembled at the Toledo North plant between February 21, 2023, to June 5, 2025. According to reports, the over-the-air update these vehicles recently received may have caused incomplete communication between the hybrid control processor and the telematics box module. This may mean that the hybrid control processor will reset unexpectedly, which could result in a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in operation.

“Some 2023-2025 MY Jeep Wrangler Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (“PHEV”) may have been updated
with Firmware Over-The-Air (“FOTA”) software which may cause incomplete communication between
the Telematics Box Module (“TBM”) and the Hybrid Control Processor (“HCP”),” describes 25V-710 recall notice. “An HCP which resets while driving may cause a loss of motive power which can cause a vehicle crash
without prior warning.”

24,238 vehicles are expected to have been affected by this error. Recall notifications will be sent to vehicle owners between November 25 and 26. This is not the first vehicle recall Stellantis has faced this year for Jeep vehicles, with Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer 2022-2024 owners notified earlier this month over an exterior trim problem.

Other Stellantis recalls over these problems

Earlier this year, Jeep faced an additional vehicle recall over its Wagoneer S Electric SUV. 3,919 units were identified to have been affected. The problem pertained to accessibility problems with the vehicles’ headlamps. Notification letters were sent to affected owners by May 9 of this year.

However, Jeep is not the only automobile developer facing recalls due to development errors. Other Stellantic recalls initiated this year for their vehicles include a recall for over 298,000 Dodge Dart sedans over a shifter cable problem. This recall is a follow-up to the same safety concern for the same models first identified in 2018. Affected vehicle owners are expected to be mailed a recall notification by November 6. Regarding the latest Jeep vehicle recall, for more information about this recall, you can check the 25V-710 recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
