Tesla has recently been making headlines in the news. From controversies related to CEO Elon Musk in the new Trump Administration to vehicle recalls regarding the infamous Cybertruck, the electric vehicle company is receiving a fair share of publicity. Recently, Tesla has announced a new vehicle recall regarding two of their electric vehicle models. It is important that affected vehicle owners bring in their vehicles as soon as possible in order to ensure maximum safety on the road.

Tesla’s recall comes after the mass Cybertruck recall

The new recall of the Tesla models comes right after the mass Cybertruck recall Tesla announced. Tesla recently identified a problem with the exterior panel on the left and right hand side of the vehicle. The panel is at risk of coming lose while on the road, causing an accident on the road. The recall was announced by the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration and affects 46,000 vehicles.

The recall is the eighth recall by Tesla regarding their Cybertrucks. Tesla has faced significant production problems regarding the highly anticipated electric vehicle. The vehicles underperformed in sales numbers in 2024 and the price of the futuristic truck has nearly doubled since the initial announcement in 2019. In addition, Tesla has faced regulatory challenges with releasing the truck in international markets.

Tesla recalls Model S and Model X vehicles

In addition to the mass Cybertruck vehicle recall, Tesla has recently announced another vehicle recall, this time for their Model S and Model X vehicles. The affected vehicles are much smaller in number than the 46,000 Cybertruck recall. The recall affects 91 vehicles across the United States according to the recall documents posted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Affected models are from the 2021–2024 Model S and 2021–2025 Model X vehicles manufactured between May 13, 2021, and December 11, 2024. The vehicles are being recalled due to a non-operational horn. This is due to an incorrect assembly of the driver-side airbag. Tesla first identified the problem in December 2024. If your vehicle is affected, you will be notified in writing by May 20 and Tesla will fix the error at no additional charge.

Tesla continues to face challenges

The vehicle recalls are not the only challenges the electric vehicle company has been facing. Tesla stock prices have recently dropped by nearly 50%. This is partly due to Tesla CEO’s recent involvement in the new advisory body to the Trump Administration under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). DOGE was brought on as an external advisory body for the Trump Administration to reduced excess federal spending.

Generally, companies do not want to align themselves along party lines. This is to ensure that they continue to reach a wide consumer base regardless of what their consumers’ political affiliations are. However, Musk’s involvement with the Trump Administration may be causing Tesla stock prices to crash due to the unpopularity of the Administration among certain citizens, subsequently reducing the popularity of Tesla.

Tesla pulled in a revenue of $97.7 billion last year and deliver 1.79 million battery-powered vehicles to consumers. However, while these stats are impressive in number, for the first time, Tesla sales declined last year by 1.1%. This highlights increasing competition coming from alternative automobile companies, particularly from the Chinese automobile market with new BYD electric models.

Despite the recent Tesla controversies, Tesla continues to be an important automobile innovator regarding the future of electrical vehicle technology. Tesla vehicles remain some of the most popular alternative engine models on the road. However, the company is still capable of making production errors, which is why it is important to bring in your vehicle if it as been affected.
