Nearly $3,000 may hit your bank account ― Just one criterion needed to qualify

SSA sends up to $5,000 on two days ― Check if you qualify

No payment today — One group will have to wait until July 1 to collect checks

If you are a Social Security recipient, it’s just three days left for you to receive a $1,000 payment if you qualify. The Social Security Administration (SSA) supports millions of citizens through its retirement program, the Supplementary Security Income (SSI) program, and its disability program. These payments are made on a regular basis every month according to a strict and timely schedule in order to ensure that recipients are able to budget their expenses with accuracy for the month.

The SSA does not deviate from its payment schedule

The date of your Social Security payment depends on which fund you receive benefits from, as well as your birthdate. Generally, you will receive your retirement and Disability benefits on a staggered system throughout the month, with payments always being made on a Wednesday. For this month, the standard Social Security payment dates are as follows:

  • Wednesday, June 11: Birth dates between the first and 10th of the month.
  • Wednesday, June 18: Birth dates between the 11th and the 20th of the month.
  • Wednesday, June 25: Birth dates between the 21st and the 31st of the month

However, for SSI recipients, payment dates are made on the first of every month regardless of when your birthdate is. For this month, June SSI payments were made on May 30 as June 1 fell on a weekend. If you are a recipient of both SSI and other Social Security payments, such as retirement payments or disability, your payment is made on the third of the month. If you claimed your benefits before May 1997, you will also receive your payment on the third.

$1,000 in just 3 days for this group

With a new upcoming Social Security payment date just around the corner, the next round of SSI payments is the first to be sent out for the new month. For July, the SSA payment schedule will revert to its regular schedule. For these SSI beneficiaries, the SSI maximum payment you can expect to receive is $967, with the standard recipient receiving $943.

According to the Social Security payment schedule, the next time SSI recipients will have their payment date deviated from the usual first of the month will only be in November, as November 1 will fall on a Saturday this year. The November payment will most likely be moved up to October 31 to accommodate this; however, beneficiaries should wait for communication from the SSA closer to the time to confirm this change.

Other payments are expected to reach SSA beneficiaries soon

While Social Security recipients are some of the most consistent beneficiaries in terms of social service payments, with the SSA never missing a payment since its inception, including during World War Two, other beneficiaries from other programs can soon start to expect payments coming their way. Recently, this month, California’s Family First Economic Support Pilot Program (FFESP) began with the release of $725 stimulus payments to qualifying families.

To participate in the program, you must have met the following criteria:

  • Reside in one of the following zip codes in Sacramento County: 95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, or 95838
  • Be the parent or legal guardian of a child aged 0-5 years who must reside with you at least 50% of the time
  • Your household income must be below 200% of the poverty line
  • You cannot participate in any other guaranteed income programs

The pilot program is similar to the requirements to receive SSI payments in that it aims to assist vulnerable individuals and families who have very little access to resources and income. However, while SSI is a federally funded program that anyone from across the US can apply to, this program is specific to California, and its pilot phase in the Sacramento County area is intended to see if the program has the potential to be extended to all of California.
