This initiative is part of Governor Hochul’s ambitious $25 billion Housing Plan, which seeks to create and preserve 100,000 affordable homes across the state. New York City sees $600,000
New York City is particularly notorious for its high cost of living. Home to just over 8 million people, many people move to this city to pursue ambitious career goals only to be struck by the high costs of rent and homeownership. 44 of the 1,060 homes benefiting from the $51 million affordable housing grant will benefit from the grant, with a total of $600,00 allocated to benefit these homes.
A city with similar high costs of living, Long Island will receive $2.3 million to support 64 selected households. This funding is crucial for ensuring that Long Island low- and moderate-income homeowners have the resources needed to maintain comfortable living conditions. With Long Island’s housing market becoming less affordable for many, this initiative offers an important lifeline, contributing to the broader goal of increasing affordable housing opportunities across the state.
