With a mission to copy nothing, Jaguar shows that the future of electric vehicles (EVs) can roar with 956 horsepower. With 956 HP, this better-than-hydrogen-powered vehicle indicates what the future of the roads could look like. Jaguar introduces its latest concept, the Type 00, which is not just a car, but an innovative technological leap forward, setting the scene for all new electric vehicles. These cars were revealed in “Miami Pink” and “London Blue” at Miami Art Week.
Jaguar Type 00: Not just another EV
The Jaguar Type 00 tears up all traditional rule books, pinpointing exuberant modernism which links with Jaguar’s philosophy of celebrating artistic non-conformity and bravery. In terms of design, Jaguar boasts a long, sculpture-like bonnet, dramatic fastback profile, boat-tail rear, and 23-inch wheels. In remaining glamorously classic, it speaks towards its futuristic purpose.
Jaguar, however, doesn’t provide whispers or subtle hints of what’s coming; it roars about what’s coming. Being built on bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), it offers a massive 956 horsepower, delivering on performance that goes far beyond most hydrogen or traditional EVs on the market.
In-depth exploration of the Type 00 design
Type 00 is a work of art, setting itself apart from other EVs. The Miami Pink finish (officially Rhodon Rose) signifies the pastel shades of South Beach’s Art Deco buildings, whilst the London Blue finish (Inception Silver Blue) resonates with the brand’s 1960s heritage. The colors chosen for Type 00 are cultural references more than just chosen colors.
The panoramic body, glassless rear tailgate, and flat surfaces gives the car that strategically sculptural silhouette that makes the model unmistakably Jaguar. Further features like deployable rear cameras also add to the artistic flair of this model.
Within the cabin, there are butterfly doors with a pantograph tailgate open to reveal travertine stone, woven wool blends, floating brass spines, and an interior waiting to be experienced. Jaguar represents an amalgamation of art, nature, and machine.
Speed consideration for car enthusiasts
While the design is one admirable feature of Jaguar, the new Type 00 doesn’t compromise on speed. The Jaguar’s future model planned to debut in 2025 will be a four-door GT using the exact same JEA platform up to 478 miles (770 km) WLTP range and adding 200 miles of charge in just 15 minutes. Those features exceed current EV and hydrogen car capabilities.
As opposed to hydrogen vehicles, which need vast infrastructure and clean fuel inputs, Jaguar’s direction is clearly electric and efficient. Having over 950 horsepower on tap, acceleration is likely to be supercar-fast, however, delivered silently and elegantly.
Reimagining and rebranding Jaguar
Type 00 Jaguar is not in competition with the lead EV manufacturer, Tesla. Following BYD’s attack on Tesla, it is clear that Jaguar is not intending to follow suit, but to set itself apart from traditional EVs. Jaguar is reimagining a vision of its own, where the focus is not only on specs but on inspiring the future of EVs. Every aspect, including the device mark inspired by Malcolm Sayer’s geometric design legacy, pays tribute to Jaguar’s past whilst showcasing an imaginative future.
Jaguar’s idea is to open luxury brand stores in global design capitals, with Paris being the first location to feature an immersive experience rather than just a Jaguar showroom.
Type 00: A design exercise
Jaguar’s Type 00 is not a production car as yet. It’s a mere design exercise by the brand showing that EVs do not have to be clinical. It is an original model by Jaguar that focuses on beauty whilst being originally wild. Having 956 horsepower and no tailpipe, the future isn’t hydrogen-powered but one that’s unmistakably Jaguar. Being better than hydrogen-powered vehicles, how can we still be questioning whether EVs could soon disappear worldwide?
