Goodbye to 55 MPH on this mythical highway — This city’s beltway overtakes reality

France is reliving the debut of a classic from 1963 while still advancing forward in its reveal of newer vehicles set to define the electric era. On offer from this country is an A390 that combines futuristic-thinking EV technology with the very DNA of the brand that manufactured the vehicle and in doing so brings forth this sporting sensation. Promising more or less 400 horsepower, and that too without a drop of fuel, this sports car is set to compete with the likes of the Porsche Macan EV. The question remains whether this EV brand will find its way into the U.S. market soon?

Containing the soul and look of a sports car

Renault’s subsidiary company has been hard at work on its promising electric lineup. The A390 unveiled in May is now on everyone’s lips and this sports car will soon be followed by the A310 sports car which is an electric successor to the A110. The reveal of the A390 has lived up to what it has been teasing about since March by giving motor enthusiasts a “sports fastback” that has made the lines between SUVs and sedans somewhat unclear.

Driven for performance and built on the AmpR Medium platform, shared by other vehicles, this A390 demands attention for being impressively unique but also legendary. The tri-motor wheel-drive setup surely lives up to its vow of delivering torque and offering faster acceleration. This A390 takes the driver’s perspective into consideration by offering driver modes such as controlled oversteer.

A practical yet performance driven sports car

Thus far, the A390 has become known as the sports car living up to its promise of delivering on horsepower. It is assumed, drawing from what has been unveiled, that acceleration is merely over 3 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph).  While living up to the performance specs that were somewhat mentioned during sneak peeks, the wilder design elements that were teased about back in October 2024 have been toned down considerably for production. The vehicle is still sporty in appearance, but also practical for daily use.

The A390 is one sports car that will, however, set itself apart but living up to the expectations of other thrilling sport cars that put driver’s enjoyment at the forefront. Surely, the A390 is meant to enhance its brand’s name paving a whole new reputation for the same brand of cars in the global market.

Capturing a vision and not just manufacturing a vehicle

While performance surely is on offer with the A390, performance is not the sole purpose behind this vehicle. The company behind the A390 has built all their EVs on a shared platform to ensure that all their sport cars are somewhat similar and that cost is taken into consideration.

The vision is to showcase a future portfolion that comprises of garage from one’s wildest dreams:

  • A390: electric sport fastback (2025)
  • A310: four-seat electric sports car
  • A110 successor: lightweight EV coupe with a bonded aluminum chassis
  • A290: electric hot hatch (Europe-only)

The A390 comes from an automaker devoted to enhance EVs of the future. While Renault may have retired from Formula 1 after years, perhaps its subsidiary could find its way back onto the Formula 1 track in the future.

The French sports manufacturer bring back the past

Renault’s Alpine has surely relived its initial debut of the Alpine A110 on a global stage back in 1963 with its release of the A390. Coming back strong, 60 years later, Alpine’s 21st-centry vehicle ensures zero emissions, and offers three electric motors and noteworthy horsepower.

While staying true to its herritage, Alpine is looking to the future by holding onto its innovative focus. The 1963 Alpine which define’s Alpine’s legacy has now been reborn without fuel this year.

Just like the iconic Ferrari that continues to advance whilst adhering to its legacy building motives, Alpine seems to the French iconic car manufacturer that many auto enthusiasts are obsessing over since its newest model’s obsession ratio has been unveiled.
