When it comes to the world of luxury vehicles, Bugatti sits at the top of the list when thinking of iconic brands that find themselves in this world. Ettore Bugatti established the cutting-edge hyper-sport automobile brand BUGATTI in 1909, and it is headquartered in Molsheim, France. The Atelier in Molsheim continues to assemble each automobile by hand, emphasizing Bugatti’s prestigious and limited availability. Now, consumers can get ready for a new vehicle coming their way in 2026.

The Tourbillon will be revealed in 2026

Last year, Bugatti debuted its new Tourbillon vehicle in China. The car has become known as the successor to the Bugatti Chiron, the first vehicle ever to be produced to reach 1500-hp. Only 250 Tourbillons are set to be built and will only become available from 2026. The new vehicle is set to discard the traditional W-16 engine Bugatti is known for and instead will feature an all-new 8.3-liter V-16 mounted amidships, which will be combined with three electric motors,  totaling a staggering and impressive 1800 hp.

“We like to say that this project is standing on the shoulders of giants,” Bugatti director of design Frank Heyl told Road & Track at a private preview of the car in Los Angeles in March.

It is hard to believe that the company could top their 1500 hp engine in the Chiron, however, the iconic brand continues to prioritize innovation and futuristic projects to push the boundaries of high-speed engine engineering. Within 25 seconds, the vehicle can get up to 250 miles per hour. The engine also delivers up to 9,000 rpm:

“It’s now 20 years that we are doing these high-speed programs,” Heyl says to Road Track. “Starting with the Veyron and later the Veyron Super Sport—and all the experience that we’ve gained in making the Chiron Super Sport+ go beyond 300 mph—is now the foundation of this new car.”

Bugatti impresses with performance and design

Not only are the engine outputs of the car impressive, but the new vehicle continues to impress with their sleek and stylish design. The car’s design has reportedly been inspired by the peregrine falcon. The peregrine is renowned for its speed, being the fastest bird in the world and achieving speeds of up to 240 mph during its dives. It seems obvious then why designers took aesthetic inspiration from the form of the bird.

“Beauty comes from the aesthetic of purpose,” Heyl says to Road Track. “And the purpose here is performance. Therefore, form follows performance . . . the car looks like it does because it functions like it functions. There is no styling for the sake of styling. The shapes almost fall into place automatically because of their function. It’s through this design principle that allows us to create shapes that are tailor-made to their purpose and tie into the stylistic DNA of the brand. That way they become authentic. And only a car that is authentic can be timeless.”

Inspired by the bird, the frontal profile has been reduced compared to the iconic Chiron.

A staggering price for the limited edition vehicle

Bugatti’s highly anticipated Tourbillon is a showcase of engineering brilliance, modernity, and iconic design. From the 3D-printed suspension system and the center console manufactured out of crystal glass, the Tourbillon is a moving work of art to add to today’s luxury vehicle lineups.

Bugatti fans will not be surprised to find that the new vehicle features an extraordinarily high price, with the limited 250 models going for a starting price of $4.6 million. The electric engine showcases Bugatti’s awareness of the changing attitudes seen in the automobile industry. Amid debates over hydrogen and electric engines, Bugatti has seemingly chosen to align itself in the electric direction through its hybrid technology to manufacture vehicles like the Tourbillon.
