Editorial Policy

ECOticias.com «El Periódico Verde» is a digital daily specialising in environmental news, published by AZOR PARTNERS SL since 2004. These standards explain how we select, verify and publish the environmental journalism we deliver every day across our Spanish edition (ecoticias.com), our English edition (Econews, ecoticias.com/en) and HoyECO (ecoticias.com/hoyeco).

Our standards

We cover the environment, nature, renewable energy, CO2 emissions, climate change, sustainability, waste and recycling, organic food, healthy living, electric mobility and Eco Americas. Our commitment is to report accurately, in context and without alarmism.

Sourcing and verification

  • We prioritise primary sources: peer-reviewed studies, reports from official bodies (IPCC, European Environment Agency, government ministries), open data and institutional statements.
  • We corroborate every significant fact against at least one independent second source before publishing.
  • We link to the original source whenever possible so readers can check it for themselves.
  • We clearly separate fact from hypothesis: any projection or speculation is labelled as such.

Accuracy and rigour

We place each scientific advance or environmental figure in its research context. We avoid sensationalist headlines and do not overstate preliminary findings. When a figure comes from an estimate or a scenario, we say so.

Independence and advertising

Editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers, sponsors or any third party. Advertising and sponsored content are kept separate from the newsroom and are clearly identified as such.

Use of artificial intelligence

We use AI tools to support research, translation between our editions and copy-editing. They never replace human judgment: editors and journalists review, fact-check and approve all content before publication. AI does not make editorial decisions, and using it to fabricate quotes, sources or data is prohibited.

Bylines and authorship

Every article is published with a byline. Where a pen name is used, it corresponds to a real member of our newsroom or an identified contributor, and editorial responsibility always rests with ECOticias.com.

Ownership and funding

ECOticias.com is an independent publication produced by AZOR PARTNERS SL. We are funded primarily through advertising. This transparency about our ownership and our sources of revenue is part of our commitment to readers.

Corrections and contact

When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and flag it on the article itself with a dated note. If you spot an inaccuracy or want to suggest a story, reach the newsroom through our newsletter (mailing.gestiondeservidor.com) or our official channels on Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Corrections policy

Slug: /en/corrections-policy/

At ECOticias.com “The Green Newspaper” (published by AZOR PARTNERS SL since 2004) we report with rigour, but we are a newsroom made by people and sometimes we get things wrong. When we do, we say so. We correct mistakes quickly and transparently, on the same page where the content was published, so that readers always have the most reliable version of the story.

How to request a correction

If you spot an error in any of our editions —ecoticias.com, Econews (ecoticias.com/en) or HoyECO— write to corrections@ecoticias.com and include:

  • The link (URL) of the article concerned.
  • The specific detail you believe is wrong and, where possible, the source that supports it.

The more specific your description, the faster we can verify it and act. We review every request and respond within 48 hours. You can also flag an error through our social media profiles.

What counts as a correction

Our editorial team reviews each report and files it under one of these categories:

  • Factual errors: wrong data, figures, dates, names or quotes.
  • Misleading framing: headlines or claims that, without being false, invite a mistaken interpretation.
  • Attribution or sourcing errors: information wrongly attributed or linked to the incorrect source.
  • Minor fixes: typos, spelling or broken links.

How we label significant corrections

When we correct a substantive error —factual, framing or sourcing— we update the article and append a dated correction note at the foot explaining what was changed and when. Minor fixes, such as a typo or a broken link, are corrected silently without a note. We do not delete published content: we keep a record of the change to preserve the transparency of the archive.

Corrections versus updates

An update reflects facts that have changed in the real world after publication (new data, a later ruling) and is marked with a dated update note. If an update materially changes the conclusions of the original text, we treat it as a correction. Opinion pieces stand as written unless they contain factual errors.

When we won’t correct

We do not alter content simply because a reader disagrees with its angle or conclusions: we only correct verifiable factual errors. Published material is retained for the record, unless it contains serious errors that cannot be fixed.
