Another recall to take note of from the Ford Motor Company is one that affects over 300,000 vehicles around the U.S., but focuses specifically on popular SUVs like the Ford Explorer and the Lincoln Aviator. The reason that Ford Motor Company has recalled these vehicles is that the second-row outer seats perform certain functions unexpectedly. Due to the seat folding or sliding when you least expect it, it could be dangerous for families, and more so for children sitting in the back seat. All Ford owners should take note of these details in case their vehicles are part of this recall.

Why are 300,000 Ford vehicles being recalled?

The setback happens to be not with the back seat design but due to the misalignment of a tiny plastic component fixed to the easy-entry seat folding switch. This plastic bezel was created by the Engineered Plastic Components of Bellevue, Ohio, and it seems to be affecting the button mechanism, causing further issues. The flaw causes the seats to fold or even slide while the car is moving.

The part (LB5B-S67460-BD) may pose severe problems for passengers and could possibly lead to serious passenger injuries. While Ford is taking the necessary precautions, there have been no reported cases of injuries, even though between 2020 and 2025, 100 cases have been reported of the seat moving unexpectedly.

It was two complaints that got lodged with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that caused Ford to assess the issue fully and to make the decision on June 16, 2025, for a total recall.

Who are the Ford owners who should be concerned about this recall?

Exactly 304,662 vehicles to date will be recalled, which includes two popular SUVs:

  • Ford Explorer (Model years 2020–2025)
  • Lincoln Aviator (Model years 2020–2025)

Ford owners driving the affected vehicles should await confirmation if they haven’t received it already. Ford has stated that all communication will go out via mail between June 23 and June 27, 2025, with follow-up notices being sent in August. This is just one recall from Ford this June; another one was Ford’s recall of vehicles over fire risk.

All these SUVs were created at Ford’s Chicago Assembly Plant during October 2018 and November 2024. Both vehicle types being recalled are considered to be family vehicles. The Ford Explorer sold 194,094 units in 2024 and 47,314 units in Q1 2025 alone. On the other hand, Lincoln Aviator has 25,235 units sold in 2024 and about 4,769 in Q1 2025.

How should the affected Ford SUV drivers respond?

All Ford dealers are clued up fully about this recall, and they are ready to inspect and take care of the issue. Part of the repairing process is to assess the bezel installation and either replace the damaged component or add the component if there is not one.

For the vehicle recall, Ford owners who are unsure if they are affected by this recall can check this by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA recall website or by contacting Ford directly. As an added precaution, do not allow passengers to sit in the second-row outer seats if possible. The recall is a mere precautionary measure, and it does not reflect all the vehicles in the same way.

Ford emphasizes that this recall is precautionary, and the issue does not affect all vehicles in the same way. Ford is ensuring that immediate action is being taken due to the nature of the problem itself. Ford is one automaker that has been in the limelight lately due to the numerous recalls the motor company has been involved in. Ford’s historic recall has to be the recall of over 1,000,000 cars due to a software flaw affecting the rearview camera system. While the recalls may attract negative attention, the Ford Motor Company is showing that customer safety is a priority.
