It’s time to check if your model is affected, as the Ford Motor Company is recalling some of its pickup trucks due to a fire risk. There is a small range of Ford’s most iconic pickup trucks that have been affected by this recall. Although it is not a large-scale recall, it seems to highlight the ongoing challenges that the heavy-duty truck market has faced of late. Ford enthusiasts and truck drivers must understand the reason behind this recall and which particular Ford pickup trucks are affected by this recall.
Understanding the issue: A fire risk problem
As per the documents that have been filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), as per campaign number 25V-306, Ford is recalling specifically the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks due to an issue. The problem seems to be cracks in the fuel return line connectors. The components where the problem lies seems to be in the part bearing the part number LC3Q-9K022-AC that had been manufactured by Bosch Mexico Sistemas Automotrices.
During production changeover, a tooling fixture misalignment occurred. The flaw led to excessive force being applied on the fuel connector which could result in a series of cracks. Should the connectors leak fuel specifically near the engine’s components, the resulting issue could be devastating.
To prevent a fire from occurring in the engine department, Ford has issued an official recall to replace these assemblies at no cost to drivers. Five units are thus far known to have been affected.
Which Ford truck models are affected?
It seems to be a handful of 2025 Super Duty F-250 and F-350 trucks equipped with 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel engines that may have a faulty fuel return line connector, becoming a potential fire hazard. Ford has reassured Ford drivers that the issue is linked specifically to 2025 model year F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks.
These truck models had been assembled on March 23, 2025. The problem is that the cab style and trim level of the affected trucks have also not been disclosed, causing it to be quite difficult to identify the potential risk based on a vehicle’s appearance or specifications alone.
The easiest way for Ford truck drivers to find out if their model is affected is to run their 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the Ford Recall website. Reaching out to Ford’s Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 is another way for citizens to put their minds at is. Affected Ford drivers will receive notification letters mailed out between May 19 and May 23, 2025.
Understanding Ford Super Duty’s place in the truck market
The F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 models are considered to be some of the heaviest-duty pickup trucks in existence throughout North America. 2025 Super Duty models are in a class of their own, being created for a variety of configurations with the added option of experiencing single or dual rear wheels.
These truck models are known specifically for the:
- Standard output of 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque
- High output of 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque
Since these trucks are highly sought-after by farmers and emergency medical responders, this small recall could have quite a drastic impact thereafter. However, the scale is not as massive as that of Ford’s 270,000 Bronco and Maverick recall.
Where to now with Ford?
Ford vehicles that have been recalled via a notice will have to be taken to a Ford dealership so that:
- The fuel return line assembly can be replaced.
- Repairs can be conducted with very little downtime.
This recall along with Ford’s recall of vehicles over software update is a reminder that no vehicle is manufactured without flaws. Any minor hazard like a fuel leak or fuel odor can become a rather serious hazard.
