Bahrain has just broken a new record in a recent public declaration that is revolutionizing the Middle East’s energy market once again. This Middle East country has proposed building the globe’s biggest rooftop solar power facility in a radical new move to ditch fossil fuels. This innovative project is set to produce an incredible 200 million kilowatt hours of renewable power a year, covering 7 million square feet of manufacturing floorspace.

Foulath Holding partners with Yellow Door Energy

This game-changing 123-Megawatt-Peak solar project will be developed in collaboration with Yellow Door Energy, a strategic partner of Faith Electric, a subsidiary of Foulath Holding; it is one of the biggest industrial powerhouses in Bahrain, and it is also a parent company of two of its subsidiaries, namely Bahrain Steel and SULB. This was announced at Gateway Gulf 2025.

This mega-project will comprise building the globe’s biggest single-roof solar power plant with a capacity of 50MWp. This will consist of an installation of 77,000 solar panels mounted across a brand new stockyard shed that measures 262,000 square meters. In a statement, Meshary Al-Judaimi, Chairman of Foulath Holding, announced that his firm has invested around $250 million in a whole range of sustainability initiatives in recent years.

World-record installation covers 707,000 square meters

The overall solar farm will use more than 189,900 high-efficiency sun power panels spread across an area of 707,000 square meters. This is a massive undertaking that puts Bahrain at the forefront of countries embracing industrial renewable energy sources globally. The proposed project will lower carbon emissions by 90,000 metric tons per annum, thus contributing significantly to its Net Zero 2060 strategy.

Moreover, in a statement related to the importance, Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of Bahrain EDB, said:
“Today, the island nation of Bahrain is at the vanguard of a new era of innovation in sustainable innovation globally. We are extremely proud of this innovative project – an important milestone as it marks the biggest rooftop solar plant in the world.”

Yellow Door Energy, in its 10th year of operation, will be responsible for financing, designing, building, commissioning, operating, and maintaining the solar power project as part of a power purchase agreement allowing companies to lower electricity costs without having to invest or bear any risks.

Strategic partnership offers cost-competitive clean energy solutions

This is a lot more than a switch to renewable energies, as it marks a commitment to a decarbonized steel manufacturing process that sets a new standard globally. This was commented on by Jeremy Crane, Group CEO of Yellow Door Energy, as he said it was an honor to have been chosen for this historic 123-MWp solar PPC contract.

Sherif ElKholy, Managing Director and Head of Middle East and Africa at Actis, was impressed with the relevance of this project and said, “I think this project highlights that affordable and clean energy is a key enabler of industry’s advancement and is a new global standard in decarbonizing steel manufacturing.” This particular project highlights that new-age manufacturing companies will be in a position to reap large cost savings in an effort to meet clean energy strategies.

Yellow Door Energy’s experience includes creating more than 1 billion kilowatt hours of clean power through its operational solar projects, as well as lowering carbon emissions by 400,000 metric tons. Currently, with a total of 400 MWp of awarded solar projects at its back, it is at the forefront of offering efficient and safe solutions through renewable power.

This is a transformative endeavor in which it will emerge as a trendsetter in clean industrial expansion, illustrating that it is possible to have a lush and healthy environment alongside economic success. It will act as a model for other countries that have been trying to have a balance between economic expansion and a clean environment.
