Vehicle recalls are orchestrated in collaboration with vehicle manufacturers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) when a common problem amongst vehicles is identified. This is to ensure the safety of all road users through constant monitoring and evaluation of complaints by drivers. Recently, a new recall has been announced by Hyundai over an oil pump concern, affecting a number of models which were built earlier this year.
Hyundai recently unveiled the new 2026 Palisade
Amidst the vehicle recall Hyundai is currently facing, they are also in the process of launching their new 2026 Palisade. The timing of the recall and the launch could be bad news for the automobile manufacturer, as when a new vehicle is released, automobile companies hope for as much good press as possible. Nevertheless, Hyundai has continuously had a good reputation in the automobile world, known for building reliable vehicles at competitive prices.
The new Palisade is not only 2.5 inches longer with an elongated wheelbase of 2.7 inches, but is also the first time Hyundai has released a Palisade that can go off-road. It also features new functional upgrades like a rear electronic limited-slip differential, 8.4 inches of ground clearance (1 inch more than standard), and standard HTRAC all-wheel drive. What is more, the powertrain of the vehicle generates 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
These Hyundai models are affected by the vehicle recall
While Hyundai is launching its new 2026 Palisade, 620 of its 2025 Palisade models are being recalled over a problem in the assembly of the electric oil pump. The pumps were manufactured by MNEX in South Korea. The manufacturing problem could cause significant issues for drivers, with the faulty hermetic seals on the controller housing possibly letting in moisture, which could potentially cause an electrical short and fire risk.
While no problems have been reported regarding this, Hyundai has advised affected owners not to park close to any other vehicle or structure until the problem has been resolved. Owners of affected models will be notified by the beginning of July. If your vehicle has been affected, there will be no additional cost to you as the driver to get the problem fixed. The following vehicles are affected by the problem:
- 2025 Palisade models produced between February 2 and 24, 2025
Winter driving? Do not buy this Hyundai model
While the new Hyundai Palisade is an exciting addition to the brand, according to a report by MHN Injury Lawyers, if you are looking to buy a new vehicle this winter, some of Hyundai’s models may not be the best deal for you. According to their report, the Hyundai Elantra model is not ideal for winter weather conditions, especially if you live in a state with severe winter conditions.
In addition, when it comes to vehicle safety, ensuring your car is adequately insured is just as crucial as choosing the appropriate one and listening to vehicle recalls, particularly in places that frequently experience severe weather conditions. Insurance can provide peace of mind when dealing with the difficulties of, for example, harsh winter weather by helping to cover losses in the event of an accident. Make sure your coverage satisfies your unique requirements for driving in inclement weather by reviewing it.
While Hyundai’s Elantra may not be the best model for winter driving, and despite the vehicle recall for the 2025 Palisade, Hyundai remains a major automobile company. Hyundai Motor America has particularly seen increased growth through record-breaking sales in 2024, with total sales reaching 836,802 units, which is a 4% increase from the previous year.
