Scientific revolution in the transportation industry has been making leaps and bounds in the past decade. From alternative engine solutions, to new transportation routes, the world is becoming increasingly globalized and connected. Space transportation has also been improving radically, and Elon Musk has been a central player to this. CEO of electrical vehicle company Tesla, and CEO to space technology agency SpaceX, must has played a key role in advancing futuristic solutions when it comes to transportation. Now, he is pioneering this idea.

Elon Musk: Pushing boundaries in transportation

Musk is most well known for his role as CEO at electric vehicle company Tesla. While Musk did not found the company, he was their biggest investor in 2004m one year after they opened their doors. He soon became the CEO in 2008. The company has been instrumental in influencing other automobile companies to produce sustainable engine solutions which put the planet first. Not only that, they also manufacture and produce renewable energy products like solar panels and solar roofs.

Meanwhile, SpaceX has had the sole mission since 2002 to reduce the costs associated with space travel as well as to eventually put a colony onto Mars. They were the first private company to reach orbit, and have become an essential partner for government space exploration agency NASA. The partnership produced the Commercial Crew Program, which works to transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station. However, the company continuously faces regulatory challenges

Musk backs this new transportation project

Musk has always been a future-orientated leader, making the impossible possible. Now, he has recently suggested that a multi-trillion dollar project to connect New York to London may be something that the world should not be giving up on yet. Currently, the fastest way for commercial travelers to ger between the two major cities is by taking an eight hour plan ride. However, this proposed project could see the travel time be shortened to a mere one hour.

Musk has said that his infrastructure tunnel service, The Boring Company, could build a transatlantic tunnel between New York and London. Currently, the project has remaind a staunch hypothetical, due to its staggering price tag sitting at an estimated nearly $20 trillion. However, Musk has claimed that his company could build the tunnel for much less money, and make the project a feasible option as opposed to a far off distant reality.

Musk tweeted on social platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that his company could do such a project for “x1000 less” than what the current associated cost is. While Musk has announced no plans to actually do said project, it is intriguing to understand how Musk would hypothetically propose such a project on a severely reduced budget.

Musk continues to put his cost-effective skills to the test

Musk has become known for his ability to slash unnecessary costs, starting with his layoff of thousands of employees at X, formerly known as Twitter. After acquiring the company for $44 billion, he drastically cut of nearly half of Twitter’s workforce, an estimated 3,700 employees. He also restructured their executive leadership, and has relaxed content violation policies.

To add to that, he has also recently made his governmental debut with the Trump administration. With the newly founded Department of Government Efficiency (DODGE), President Trump has hired Musk as an external agency and federal advisor to provide advice on how the federal government can reduce unnecessary spending. There has been much debate, and criticism, about Musk’s role in government, particularly surrounding how an unelected employee has the potential to gain access to sensitive documents and information within the federal government.
