If you hail from New York, you can expect to receive this payment hit your bank account before the end of November. Every month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) distributes approximately 75 million payments to beneficiaries. These payments are often the only source of income for SSA beneficiaries, and with the holiday season upon us, it is more vital than ever before that beneficiaries are paid their November benefits on time, thanks to the uptick in household expenses that occur during the Thanksgiving and holiday season.

The SSA payment schedule for November

The SSA follows a strict payment schedule every month to ensure that the millions of payments they distribute are done so in a timely and organized manner. The general payment schedule for all SSA beneficiaries is as follows:

  • The second Wednesday of the month: beneficiaries with a birthdate between the first and tenth of any given month.
  • The third Wednesday of the month: beneficiaries with a birthdate between the eleventh and twentieth of any given month.
  • The fourth Wednesday of the month: beneficiaries with a birthdate between the twenty-first and the thirty-first of any given month.

However, if you are an SSA beneficiary who receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments, this schedule is irrelevant for you. All SSI payments are paid on the first of the month. If you receive both SSI and Retirement benefits, your Retirement benefits are then paid on the third of the month. The SSA also pays out beneficiaries on the third if they claimed their benefits before May 1997.

New Yorkers to receive November payments on this date

In New York State, authorities have been notably underway in distributing a variety of benefits to their residents. While some of these payments pertain to established programs, such as the School Tax Relief (STAR) program, which offers property tax relief for eligible recipients, other programs have recently been introduced to offer economically vulnerable residents the opportunity to receive one-time stimulus payments to provide immediate financial relief, such as the new inflation rebate payments.

Of these New Yorkers who can expect a November payment from local authorities, some may also be SSA recipients, meaning their November SSA payment will also be hitting their bank accounts. The next round of SSA payments to be issued according to the official SSA payment schedule will be on November 26, 2025, for those recipients with a birthdate between the twenty-first and the thirty-first of any given month. These payments will be the last November payments issued by the SSA before December payments begin to be issued and the SSA prepares for the 2026 benefit adjustments.

More financial changes coming for New Yorkers

New York is notorious for being one of the most expensive locations to live in. Thanks to this, Governor Kathy Hochul’s government has included in the Financial Year 2026 budget increased funding specifically for payment initiatives which are intended to assist families. These changes include expanding the Child Tax Credit, whereby 118,000 families can now claim this credit, as well as cutting taxes for 507,000 New Yorkers. The state has also invested $400 million to safeguard childcare subsidies and allocated $110 million in capital grants in order to support childcare providers.

While these changes are specific to New York, New Yorkers will be able to save on federal income taxes next year, too, thanks to the new ‘No Tax on Tips’ legislation, which was recently approved. This change will see workers in the hospitality and service industry be able to deduct up to $25,000 earned in tips from their reported income. However, this new law will not apply to tips, which are a mandatory service charge that many restaurants include for parties of six or more.
