A solar plug arrives that generates electricity at your windows. It makes it possible to obtain up to 8 hours of free light. The solar panels that you can place in houses without space were a revolution, a reality that will be repeated again with this device that produces electricity. Currently, electricity generation is generally based on the use of non-renewable natural resources such as fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas).

Although efficient, these types of fuels produce high levels of pollution and are responsible for climate change. For this reason, a worldwide alert has been declared and it is necessary to obtain energy from other less polluting sources. Another relevant factor in the search for new ways of generating electricity is the increase in energy demand.

As the world population grows and countries develop, we need more and more electricity to meet the needs of different sectors: residential, industrial and commercial. Thus the solar plug comes to our days with good predictions and valuable promises for the present and the future.

Solar plug: the ultimate solution for free electricity and 8 hours of free light

Kyuho Song & Boa Oh, graduates of the Seoul Institute of Design, are the creators of the solar plug. They presented it at Dubai Design Week 2022, a festival that brings together designers from more than 26 countries who exhibit to the world about 135 projects in various categories. This device was created so that the user can take it with him anywhere and place it in any window exposed to the sun, taking advantage of solar energy to charge gadgets.

The process is easy. It must be attached to any window using its suction cups so that it receives direct sunlight. This way the solar panels will charge the internal battery. It is apparently made of plastic. It also has a plug on one side and a solar panel with a suction cup to attach perfectly to the windows on the other. It transforms solar energy into electricity so that users can use it in their daily activities.

It takes between 5 and 8 hours to fully charge. It works with 1,000 mAh, a number that makes it possible to power a 60-watt light bulb for 20 hours. However, future updates are expected to exceed its capacity. Its designers have had the patent since 2010 but are having trouble running an in-house production and technical problems that do not allow the project to move forward. According to Kyuho Song, they expect everything to be resolved soon.

Solar plug, the device that generates electricity for free

Its inventors sought to develop an intuitive item that everyone can use without a problem. Something simple and easy to carry in a jacket pocket to charge a cell phone and other small devices independently. This invention is called the Window Socket.

Being a simple and small device, it is necessary to keep in mind the solar plate by which they are integrated. It does not have the potential to produce much amperage in the electric current it converts by solar rays when placed on the windows. The young people of the University of Seoul invented it with a clear objective: “The use of cell phones today on the planet is immense, in fact, it is estimated that in large cities there are three cell phones for every inhabitant”.

In short, this solar plug produces electricity at the windows and provides 8 hours of free light. It seems the perfect solution for small needs that are relatively difficult to meet in certain areas. For now, Spain has not seen them arrive. However, there are other alternatives such as the solar pump.
