This Thanksgiving, these residents qualify to receive an automatic payment deposited into their bank accounts should they meet all the eligibility critiera. The holiday season is known to bring an uptick in household expenses, with families often needing to scramble to find extra cash to cover these additional costs. As such, if you can qualify to receive a stimulus or rebate payment during this time of the year, it could not come at a better time to help alleviate families from additional financial stress.

New one-time payments during the holiday season

Across the country, local state authorities have been underway with distributing a variety of new one-time stimulus payments for eligible residents. Typically, stimulus payments are released only during periods of economic downturn, or when authorities recognise that these payments would significantly assist their more economically vulnerable residents.

To receive these payments, you generally need to meet specific income qualifying critiera. This is done to ensure that these payments are directed towards low-income households that experience the most financial strain during periods of economic hardship.

New York State has been notably busy in distributing these types of payments this year, thanks to state authorities increasing the Financial Year 2026 budget to include increased financial aid for low-income residents. One notable new payment from state authorities includes the addition of a new one-time inflation rebate payment worth up to $400, which eligible recipients could claim in order to assist with offsetting the costs associated with the increases in cost of living due to inflation. The state continues to be underway with distributing these payments until the end of this year for successful applicants.

Not yet confirmed, but a widespread federal payment that may still be in store for citizens across the country is the ‘Trump Tariff Dividend’, which, if officially drafted and signed into legislation, may see eligible residents receive $2,000 from the Trump administration before the year ends.

These Thanksgiving automatic payments are coming for these residents

While most stimulus payments are intended for low-income residents, the Alaska Department of Revenue provides a different approach. The Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) is an annual payment that the state provides every year to ensure that as many of the 600,000 residents as possible can share in the profits earned from the state’s oil and precious mineral supplies.

This year’s PFD payment is worth $1,000. If your application reads “Eligible-Not Paid” by November 12, 2025, you will receive your payment from Alaskan authorities by today, November 20, 2025, just in time for any last-minute Thanksgiving expenses that need to be covered. Residents who have applied for the PFD in the past will receive automatic payments be distributed to them.

Additional payment dates are expected to be as follows:

  • 2025 (and prior year) dividend applications that are in “Eligible-Not Paid” status on December 10, 2025: These residents will be paid on December 18, 2025.
  • 2025 (and prior year) dividend applications that are in “Eligible-Not Paid” status on January 07, 2026: These residents will be paid on January 15, 2026.

Final payments for these residents before Thanksgiving

The PFD payments are not the only ones that are expected to be distributed right in time for Thanksgiving. Other payments, which will be sent out before one of the biggest holidays of the year, include the usual Social Security payments for all beneficiaries across the country.

For New Yorkers, these Social Security payments are just one of three payments eligible residents may see before Thanksgiving. Other notable efforts from state authorities that were distributed this month include the emergency direction of $65 million worth of financial aid for state food banks and other food assistance programs due to the recently ended 43-day federal government shutdown, which saw the approximately three million New Yorkers receiving benefits from the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) receive their benefits late.
