Stepping away from traditional car making, this legendary carmaker’s focus has shifted towards speed, innovation in charging ability, and the horsepower to rewrite the record books. With the unveiling of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package, Porsche has prized itself as an innovative king of efficient electric motors. With a jaw-dropping 1,092 horsepower (760 kW with launch control), Porsche is setting standards as opposed to just keeping up. Taking the lead and standing tall in front of its rival carmakers from Germany and Japan, Porshe is producing top-of-the-line vehicles. The message behind the new Porshe vehicles is clear: Italy may have birthed passion, but performance can be seen with the Porsche range of car.
Unapologetically powerful without a hint of fuel
On the tip of the tongue when discussing the new Taycan Turbo GTs is the fact that they are unapologetically powerful with cutting-edge engineering. Porsche has pushed forward its dual-motor setup with the Weissach Package model delivering up to 1,092 PS (metric horsepower) and 1,240 Nm of torque making the Turbo GT series one of the most powerful series-production Porsche ever. The reason behind the new advancements is the upgraded pulse inverters that push 900 amps (up from 600 in the Turbo S), silicon carbide semiconductors for better efficiency, and in the long run improve rear-axle motor that’s meant to be lighter and more robust.
Credit must be given to a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle as well as to the massive 105 kWh battery (97 kWh usable) which makes acceleration somewhat savage. The Weissach version rockets from 0–100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds and hits an all-time high speed of 305 km/h. Activating Porsche’s “Attack Mode” adds a 120-kW boost on demand which allow car enthusiasts to assert that the new Porshe range isn’t just fast for an EV; it is fast, period.
Tracking credentials (Green Hell track time) and complementing aesthetics
Dispel all the knowledge that you have of the limits of electric sedans. The Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package set a wow Nürburgring (Green Hell) lap time of 7:07.55 minutes — a full 26 seconds faster than the Taycan Turbo S. It also acquired the title of fastest road-legal electric car at Laguna Seca with a 1:27.87 lap. The numbers all point to one thing- Porshe has the power to beat combustion-powered legends. Despite Ferrari’s new hydrogen combustion engine, Porshe may just be leading the race in terms of innovation.
The Weissach package makes is designed to be more track-focused and has ditched the rear seats, clock, and some comfort features for weight savings. Porsche’s Active Ride suspension is dynamically able to adapt to each wheel’s movement with motor-driven dampers that counteract pitch and roll, creating an almost unreal connection to the road. This all combined with lightweight ceramic brakes, forged wheels, torque vectoring, and precision aerodynamics which leads to an EV that sets the standard and proves to be hell for other EV competitors.
Porshe: driven by design and digital features
Aside from the performance these Taycan Turbo GT models stealing the show, these Porshe models have been designed by keeping everyday usability and digital sophistication in mind. Within the cars themselves are Race-Tex upholstery, carbon fiber bucket seats, and a motorsport-inspired steering wheel. A new Porsche Experience interface runs across a curved 16.8-inch driver display and dual 10.9-inch touchscreens, one of which can even be added for the passenger.
Besides the design, charging of the vehicle is also said to be state of the art. All thanks to an 800V system, the Taycan GT can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes at 320 kW. Porshe was able to not just build another electric vehicle but make a statement. Porshe perhaps is here again and it’s not slowing down the pace for anyone.
