The days of the racing MINI as you know it are over! Two fresh and spanking new models have landed, and each model has been built with horsepower that can shock motor vehicle enthusiasts. The drift away from MINI as we knew it is all thanks to a phenomenal collaboration between MINI and the lifestyle brand, Deus Ex Machina. MINI, however, is sticking to its tone of creative design meets motorsports dynamic, but with this partnership, MINI is looking to set new trends. One MINI model runs on fuel while the other runs on silence, but both models have landed to make quite the noise.

MINI releases two models, both with one vision in mind

As per the collaboration between MINI JCW and Deus Ex Machina, two fully customized vehicles have been released that are based on the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) platform. Both cars are here to signify speed, style, and a hint of subculture. In doing so, both cars capture MINI’s vision in an entirely new way.
MINI has released a gasoline-powered model called The Machina, which is capable of producing 231 horsepower (170 kW). Being bold and roaring, The Machina pays tribute to MINI’s racecar roots. MINI has also modernized its vision by offering an electric counterpart called The Skeg. The electric vehicle offers  258 horsepower (190 kW), which is rather startling. The electric alternative is quieter; however, it is aggressive in its own right, redefining what a MINI of the future could be like.
Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI, has mentioned that this collaboration ensures that culture gets amalgamated with performance in such a way that the new MINI vehicles capture a story of an entirely new lifestyle that is performance-based and characterized by exciting new personalities.

All eyes on The Machina that roars with possibility and power

The Machina embodies the racing tradition that the MINI is known for. Not only can The Machina be heard, but it can be felt as well. The Machina is remarkably bold, being painted in red, white, and black. The Machina features a centrally mounted exhaust as well as widened fenders.
The raw materials within the vehicle speak loudly with a 5-point harness, a roll cage, and aluminum plating. Rally-style driving is on offer with this vehicle, which is not only loud when it performs but loud and proud in terms of its interior, exterior, and overall aesthetic. It reimagines what driving could really feel like prior to buttons and before electric.

Looking at The Skeg, a silent electric wonder car

Being an EV that keeps in alignment with a surfing lifestyle, The Skeg is a vividly yellow and silver vehicle. While the car enforces surfer-like chilled vibes, its performance is anything but chilled. Offering a punchy 258 hp (190 kW) and instant electric torque, this quieter model lives up to performance standards. The interior of the vehicle features neoprene bucket seats and wetsuit storage trays. Embodying the surfer’s lifestyle and theDeus Collection badge, the car’s creative roots get elevated. The Skeg is more than just an electric vehicle; it is an entirely new electric philosophy for MINI, unlike Honda, which ditches EVs completely.

Much more on the cards thanks to the collaboration of MINI and Deus

Torn between being rebellious and real, The Machina and The Skeg by MINI and Deus have shown the intention of MINI to redefine what it stands for. One MINI vehicle provides a more nostalgic glance into the world of MINI, while the other drifts away from nostalgia and hints at future possibilities. Both vehicles indicate fine craftsmanship, creativity, and pure MINI driving joy. Along with these newer vehicle releases, the MINI x Deus apparel collection launched globally on September 8, 2025. The future of MINI is about making waves and packing on horsepower. While the REX cars are better than EV and hydrogen, MINI may steal the show.
