These coupes are having a major change to their design. The passenger vehicle world has consistently been turning out more sophisticated and robust designs for new models, which are hitting the consumer base, particularly regarding bold design choices for electric vehicles. Amidst concerns over the plant’s future, the electric vehicles have become a beacon of hope for the industry to achieve carbon neutrality, and paired with these more advanced models is an equally alluring design.

Electric vehicle designs continue to reflect the future

Today, the electric vehicle is the engine of choice when it comes to alternative engine solutions, both for consumers and automobile developers. While electric vehicle sales have slowed, they retain their position as the most popular alternative engine vehicle model of choice, particularly the hybrid electric vehicle. Paired with these electric vehicles are not only advanced alternative engine solution technology, but also futuristic design choices as a means to communicate the electric vehicle as a representation of both sustainability and innovation.

Popular design choices for these vehicles include sleek lines, aerodynamic silhouettes, and minimalistic yet striking interiors in order to convey to consumers the shift towards a new era of transportation, which no longer uses fossil fuel technology. Futuristic lighting signatures, digital displays, and high-tech materials are intended to serve both aesthetic and functional purposes as a means to emphasize efficiency, connectivity, and cutting-edge engineering while continuing to paint these vehicles as desirable.

These coupes return with a new design choice

On top of new design choices for electric vehicles, automobile developers are also returning to their roots, drawing upon previously popular design choices of older models and integrating them into newer designs. This is intended to ensure that their brand identity continues to remain at the heart of their newer developments while also embracing new technology, showcasing a merging of the past with the present.

Earlier this year, automobile developer Acura debuted the Acura RSX Prototype, offering a sneak peek at the company’s next-generation all-electric model. The prototype highlights a shift in design for the company’s SUV-like coupe silhouette to include a fastback roofline, wide stance, and aerodynamic body.

“The dramatic styling of our Acura RSX Prototype demonstrates that it’s not just a new EV, but a compelling all-new Acura model,” said Lance Woelfer, vice president of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “RSX will deliver on nearly four decades of Acura Precision Crafted Performance brand DNA with appealing design and cutting-edge technology.”

Bold designs to represent cutting-edge technology

While automobile companies continue to advance the internal engineering of their vehicles for more efficient and sustainable models, they are also aware that they must continue to pay attention to design choices in order to appease consumer preferences. Consumers spend a significant amount of time in their vehicles commuting, and ensuring that these vehicles are aesthetically eye-catching as well as technologically advanced ensures a ride experience that is enjoyable for drivers.

However, to keep with the futuristic technology electric vehicle trend, many automobile companies have continued to rely on design choices that incorporate digital and touchscreen technology. These adaptations, however, are not always user-friendly, and automobile design teams need to ensure that their design decisions make intuitive sense for drivers to operate their vehicles.

With these concerns in mind, new automobile models need to strike a balance between advanced futuristic design and a ‘common-sense’ approach to their technological features. Vehicles need to not only be aesthetically pleasing, but also need to be easy to operate, especially for drivers who are not as technologically conscious. Design choices for new models provide an exciting opportunity for developers to showcase their unique brand voice while also communicating innovation and performance.
