Vestas supplies wind turbines to South Korea, Philippines

Wind turbines are slated to be commissioned in late 2015 and are expected to significantly contribute to helping the country achieve its clean energy goals. Upon completion of the 59.4 MW wind farm, it will produce around 135,000 megawatt hours of clean renewable energy annually.

Vestas will be supplying wind turbines to wind farm projects in South Korea and in the Philippines.

For the project in South Korea, Vestas will be supplying GS Yeongyang Windpower’s Yeong Yang Wind Farm with 18 V112-3.3 MW turbines. In addition to supplying the turbines, Vestas will also provide a 10-year full-scope service agreement.

“Vestas is delighted to be chose as the wind energy solution provider for the Yeong Yang project, which is one of South Korea’s most promising sites,” said Chris Beaufait, president, Vestas Asia Pacific and China.

“Key to our decision to build our business with Vestas was the cutting-edge technology and excellent operational service back-up of the world’s top wind turbine manufacturer,” said Ki-Hwan Kim, representative director of GH Yeongyang Windpower.

For the Burgos Wind Project Stage 2, located in Burgos, Ilocos Norte province, Philippines, Vestas will be supplying EDC Burgos Wind Power Corporation’s project with 21 V90-30 MW turbines.

Under the contract, Vestas will be in charge of the delivery, installation, and commissioning of the wind turbines. The wind turbine company will also be supplying the wind farm with a 10-year service contract.

Delivery of the wind turbines will begin in the second quarter of 2014. Upon completion, the Burgos Wind Project Stage 2 will produce a total of 63 MW (see related story). – EcoSeed Staff
