New Sharp energy storage system to help Californians save on energy bills

The SmartStorage energy solution can be used as a stand-alone supply of energy or deployed together with a solar electric installation. It keeps a large amount of electric energy stored in reserve, which it then selectively releases in order to limit the energy that a facility will take from the grid.

Sharp Electronics Corporation has announced that they are launching a new energy storage solution in California.

The SmartStorage energy solution can be used as a stand-alone supply of energy or deployed together with a solar electric installation. It keeps a large amount of electric energy stored in reserve, which it then selectively releases in order to limit the energy that a facility will take from the grid.

The system can dramatically cut utility demand charges for commercial and industrial buildings.

“Our product’s combination of cutting-edge hardware, integrated with Sharp’s unique software, and backed by our 10-year O&M service and performance guarantee provides a turnkey solution that works widely for commercial and industrial business owners,» said Carl Mansfield, general manager of Sharp’s Energy Systems and Services Group.

The SmartStorage system is currently available throughout California. Sharp has already signed distribution agreements and initial product orders for the SmartStorage system and is working with several California-based project development allies to deliver the system to business owners.

The SmartStorage system will be made available to other states in the second half of 2014. It was developed at the Camas, Washington-based Sharp Laboratories of America. – EcoSeed Staff
