Sustainable mobility continues to explore new options to address the well-known problem of EV range, which is still not what we expected. Just when we were expecting Tesla to be the one to take it up a notch, it turns out to be a rival brand you know well. Discover the first-ever blade battery that revolutionizes safety standards forever
The first Blade battery ever-created, not in the United States
BRZ, one of the most important car manufacturer in the field of electric vehicles and advanced technologies, has recently launched “Blade Battery”, a new battery which demonstrates a high level of safety and a strong desire in range.
The advanced technology of the Blade Battery is a good illustration of BYD’s desire to walk ahead when it comes to innovative engineering. While lithium batteries have cylindrical cells, Blade Battery cells are single units that look like a switchblade. This approach features a single cell that is adapted and ensures that it is the best fit.
BYD asserts that this constitutes a revolutionary development in the EV sector after thirty years. BYDs Battery boasts energy density and also safety. This innovative technology makes it clear that BYD is a clear leader moving forward because it designs advanced technologies that extend the battery life and making an EVs safer.
What is a blade battery? Why it could be a key invention for automotive industry
The interactive description of the “BYD Blade Battery” is a hold of a novel battery architecture which was developed by the Chinese electric vehicle company, BYD. Despite that it employs LFP chemistry instead of standard lithium ion chemistry.
The main innovation of the Blade Battery is the one-cell feature this brings along with it. In the older lithium ion batteries, there are loads of tiny, slender battery cells, like the one presented below. The Blade Battery uses an more-efficient grouping of individual cells.
According to BYD, the Blade Battery has already been subjected to a number of abuse tests, including tests for nails penetration, crushes, and other bad conditions without any fire or explosion. From the perspective of safety, the cell structure looks to be better than that most lithium ion batteries were originally made of.
The Blade Battery offers all these great features of top-notch range and safety – the main points usually considered when people buy electric vehicles. If BYD’s claims become verified, the introduction of the new molecular battery could indeed serve as one of the boosters for electric vehicle adoption.
The blade battery’s advantages you won’t believe: a new step towards future EVs
The Blade Battery is capable to provide EVs such an unbelievable range that exceeds the standard range available today for Li-ion batteries. According to BYD’s statements, the Lifepo4 battery panel in Blade Battery can power an EV for over 1000 km (621 miles) per charge, which is nearly triple the distance most conventional EVs.
To illustrate, this is the longest Tesla Model S with the 100 kWh battery pack that is estimated by the EPA at around 405 miles. The next Lucid Air Dream Petrol with 113 kWh battery gives the possible range of 481 miles. Inversely, the range of the BYD’s Han EV sedan with the Blade Battery is 605 km (376 miles).
No doubt, the Blade Battery is the main breakthrough features of the new car while its long driving range and fast charging can be achieved with excellent heat dissipation. BYD claim that the battery in the Quantum Blade car can achieve an 80% charge in only 15 minutes when utilized with DC quick charging.
As you can see, the first BYD blade-battery will not only reduce the emissions of new EVs, it also has the potential to increase their safety and stability, even in technically demanding conditions. This is precisely what we have just seen with this model, which has not yet reached the American market, but could do so in the medium term.
