Vestas will be providing 14 of the company’s V112-3.0 MW wind turbines from Bordelum III GmbH & Co. KG’s citizen-owned wind power plant in northern Germany.
Vestas has received an order for 42 megawatts-worth of wind turbines from Bordelum III GmbH & Co. KG for their citizen-owned wind power plant.
Vestas will be providing 14 of the company’s V112-3.0 MW wind turbines from Bordelum III GmbH & Co. KG’s citizen-owned wind power plant in northern Germany. The wind turbines, which will be installed in Bordelum at the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein, is planned to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2013 with commissioning expected to start in the first half of 2014.
In addition to supplying the 14 wind turbines, Vestas will be providing the citizen-owned wind power plant with their Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system which will help monitor and control the wind power plant, as well as a 15-year full-scope service agreement.
The 42-MW wind power plant will produce more than 140 gigawatt hours annually – enough clean energy to meet the demand for power of 35,000 German four-person-households.
“This project allows the citizens in the local community to directly support the change in the energy mix towards renewables. It is thus the active and self-designed implementation of the desired energy revolution in Germany that becomes reality just in front of our homes,” said Harm Truelsen, one of the managing directors of the wind power plant.
“This wind power plant generates additional regional value for our community. The first wind power plant owned by local residents in our region was built in the mid-90s. The fact that nearly 700 of 2,000 local residents have invested in this project shows the high level of acceptance of renewable energy,” the managing director added.
Vice President Andreas Eichler, Sales in Vestas Germany, noted that the citizen-owned wind power plant is one of the largest wind power plants in the country to be installed by citizens of one community. – EcoSeed Staff
