Vestas receives 350 MW order

Under the agreement, Vestas will be supplying 75 V100-2.0 MW turbines to the 150 MW Origin wind power plant in Oklahoma. Vestas and E.G.P.-N.A. also signed an agreement for up to an additional 836 MW worth of 2 MW wind turbines, 200 MW of which is already firm.

Vestas Wind Systems A/S has received a 350-megawatt order from the multinational renewable energy corporation Enel Green Power North America, Inc.

Vestas’ factories in Colorado will be in charge of manufacturing the blades, nacelles, and towers for the 350 MW order from E.G.P.-N.A. To further meet the customer’s demand, the wind turbine company will be adding more workers to three of its Colorado factories – one in Windsor and another one in Brighton.

Deliveries for the Origin wind power plant are expected mid-2014, with commissioning by the end of 2014.

In addition to the wind turbines, Vestas will be providing the Origin project a three-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement which guarantees and ensures the turbines are operational when the wind is blowing.

“We’re thankful to work again with a major global company like Enel which has a proven track record of building successful wind-energy projects in this country,” said Chris Brown, president of Vestas’ sales and service division in the U.S. and Canada.

Just this August, Vestas and Enel Green Power partnered for a wind project in Chile, the 99 MW-Taltal project (see related story). – EcoSeed Staff
