Vestas to supply wind turbines in Greece and Chile

In Greece, Terna Energy ordered 73.2 megawatts worth of wind turbines. The contract, which is for the Agios Georgios wind power plant, consists of nine V90-3.0 MW turbines and 14 V112-3.3 MW machines.

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas ended 2014 with two supply contracts: one in Greece and the other in Chile.

In Greece, Terna Energy ordered 73.2 megawatts worth of wind turbines. The contract, which is for the Agios Georgios wind power plant, consists of nine V90-3.0 MW turbines and 14 V112-3.3 MW machines.

Turbine delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2015, with the wind power plant slated to be fully commissioned in the second quarter of 2016.

In addition to the supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines, Vestas will be providing them with a five-year Active Output Management 4000 agreement – a full-scope service package to maximize uptime and performance.

“The Agios Georgios wind farm will utilize the vast Aegean Sea wind resources to produce clean energy and transport it through a dedicated submarine cable connection to a major demand centre in Attica,” said ManolisMaragoudakis, chief executive officer of Terna Energy.

“This project demonstrates once again our deep commitment to the Greek wind energy market. With this new order our long-lasting partnership with Vestas has taken another step forward,” the C.E.O. explained.

Meanwhile, in Chile, Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order for 88 MW worth of wind turbines from an undisclosed customer. The unnamed project will consist of 44 V110-2.0 MW turbines.

Vestas will also supply its customer with its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition tool. The wind power plant is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2016. – EcoSeed staff
