Fuel enhancer promises to offset vehicle emissions in India

Professional services company Maximumm Green Proprietary Limited said a number of Indian public and commercial vehicle fleet operators have agreed to participate in the program.

A device that will be fitted on vehicles will increase fuels’ ability to vaporize and enhance overall fuel performance. It can be used in cars, trucks, sports utility vehicles, buses tractors, boilers and burners, said device maker Fuel Concepts Proprietary Limited.

The device, which looks like a tube attached near the car’s engine, boosts a vehicle’s gas mileage by up to 30 percent and reduces environmental pollutants produced by carbon emissions by a maximum of 80 percent. The process creates a better air-fuel ratio and more complete burn in the combustion chamber.

Maximumm Green said the device will be installed in about 3,000 public vehicles and 6,700 commercial trucks. The program will cost around $16.8 million.

The company formed a joint venture with Fuel Concepts in July with a goal to offset 50 million metric tons of carbon emissions before 2012 ends.

“India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, and growing Indian businesses need a product that can help meet the national and international carbon reduction targets,” said Peter Carr, chief executive of Maximumm Green.

In 2009, India said it intends to curb its carbon intensity by 24 percent in 2020 based on 2005 levels.

Sydney-based Maximumm Green aims to help businesses and consumers adopt clean technology to cut carbon emissions through its technology solutions service.
