GAC Motor, one of China’s leading automakers, is following the path of development of EVs and has reached a new level with the production of its Quark Electric Drive 2. 0 motor. This new high-performance motor is aimed at boosting the density and mileage of electric cars by another 50 kilometres (31 miles) without auxiliary battery storage.

The breakthrough technology is set to take huge mileage in the EV market as it is cost-effective, efficient and powerful as compared to the present battery systems in electric vehicles.

How GAC’s New Electric Motor adds extra electric range without needing a larger battery.

Thus, the greatest advantage of the Quark Electric Drive 2.0 is its capability to increase the range of an Electric Vehicle by 50km without changing the size of the battery one bit. This makes it an interesting proposition for car manufacturers who are looking to expand range while not having to upgrade the battery in the process, something which could add substantial cost to the car.

In the e-REVs, the motor is projected to enhance the range by a phenomenal 150 km. In essence, the carmaker GAC has worked hard to find ways how to attain tremendous performance enhancements while consuming just a small amount of additional energy.

This improvement is due in part to the motor’s efficiency of 98.5% which ranks amongst the highest globally and a power density of 13 kW/kg which makes certain that the motor will produce a high level of torque while at the same time not adding extra weight to the vehicle.

Nevertheless, GAC states that such developments could reduce power consumption by 90 billion kilowatt-hours each year once the new motor is incorporated throughout the company’s EV lineup.

Quark Electric Drive 2. 0: A Game-Changer in High-Speed Electric Motors

Another revolutionary selling point of the Quark Electric Drive 2.0, which is much higher compared to conventional EV motor speeds; is 30 thousand rpm.

This is quite a great accomplishment as it is evident that most of the electric motors in use today are characterized by slower speeds of operation. Even though peak rpm is not as important for EVs as for combustion engines, the ability to revolve up to such a rate speaks for the motor’s effectiveness and power capacity.

The Quark Electric Drive 2.0 will first be installed in vehicles from GAC’s Hyptec brand, previously known as Aion Hyper. Hyptec is GAC’s performance EV arm, and the new motor will be useful in the Hyper SSR EV supercar that has over 1,200 horsepower and takes less than two seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph).

With a price range between 180,000 to 245,000 yuan in China, the Hyper SSR is among the most expensive electric cars in the Chinese automobile market and is expected to enter the international market with a target of Southeast Asia, Europe and South America markets among others. The Quark Electric Drive 2. 0 motors will help Hyptec’s models hold the ground in the high-performance EV category against counterparts across the world.

Aion’s New Digital Chassis: The subject of EV platform design

For the Quark Electric Drive 2, it is possible to state that in addition to the aforementioned aspects, the following two parameters are used.

GAC has also introduced a new generation of smart digital chassis to serve as a compatible companion to the new motor. This smart digital chassis incorporates new technologies such as rear-wheel steering; it allows the vehicle to turn at a 40% lesser angle than that of a conventional car, thus giving it a tight turning circle especially useful when making turns in small spaces.

However, it also safely adorns the industry’s first fusion electronic differential lock that helps in improved handling and traction especially at high speeds while cornering.

This is an advanced platform that will be the foundation of the new models at Hyptec and guarantee that the capability of the Quark motor will be achievable on the roads. In amalgamation with this sophisticated chassis and the Quark motor, GAC places itself in an advantageous position in the competition for the supremacy of electric cars.

The Future of EVs: GAC Paves the Way for its Expansion Worldwide

It could however be noted that with the introduction of the Quark Electric Drive 2.0, GAC is building up its position in the electric vehicle segment and not only in the Chinese automotive industry. As the need for better-performing energy-efficient electric motors increases, GAC’s use of materials, enhanced design, and maximum motor speed offer it an edge.

The plan to incorporate the use of the motor in the company’s lineup of electric vehicles will not only increase range and performance but also save lots of energy and bring down the emission level in a huge way.

As GAC starts exporting its Hyptec models and preparing for global expansion of its EV lineup, the Quark Electric Drive 2. 0 can be better imagined as the next big leap in developing electric vehicles, better, more powerful and made available for any consumer across the globe.
